Fox errors in coverage of NY Governor sex scandal

Spiter is still workingOn location in Mississippi Monday for today’s Democratic primary, Fox News host Shepard Smith reported that the Governor of New York had just resigned. Amid a sex scandal that is ricocheting around the world, the Governor addressed reporters yesterday as The Wire reported. The only thing missing from those scripted comments was a resignation.

After his panel launched into a discussion of what Eliot Spitzer’s replacement’s administration would look like, a producer in the booth informed him of the truth.

“Excuse me, I have just been told he did not resign in his statement,” Smith said.

Then,├é┬áillustrating their “fair and balanced” moniker, interview subject and conservative pillar, former Senator Alfonse D’Amato, said his sources could indeed confirm that story and the Governor had resigned.

A simple watching of the Governor’s press conference could have easily wiped clean any confusion.
