The Venice Film Festival is the oldest in the world and kicked off last night. Many stars came out to partake in the festivities, but actress Natalie Portman was one of the standouts. She looked absolutely stunning in a scarlet silk gown by Rodarte that was adorned with Swarovski crystals.

Natalie Portman’s latest film is called “Black Swan” where she plays a perfection-seeking ballerina. Having danced as a child, Portman’s training started a year before filming began and sources say her hard work paid off!

In this psychosexual ballet thriller from Darren Aronofsky, Portman gives a performance of a lifetime that had the fest audience up on their feet for a standing ovation. London journalists are enthralled with the film. “Portman is astounding,” remarks the Times of London. “Awards are sure to follow.” We certainly hope so!

“Black Swan” will be released in the United States on December 1st by Fox Searchlight and is currently competing for a Golden Lion along with 23 other films which will be awarded September 11th.

The 67th Venice Film Festival is in full swing from September 1st until September 11th.
