Ooooh the U.S. Open is really heating up! Here’s the news in a nutshell:
1. Last night, fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez battled Raphael Nadal in the fourth round of the U.S. Open. This late match began at 11:08pm on Arthur Ashe court and was an easy win for Nadal, the number one seed. This is the third consecutive year Raphael Nadal has advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open but he has never won the trophy. My money is on Nadal this year.

2. Kim Clijsters and Venus Williams (number 2 and 3 seeds respectively) advanced to the semifinals where they’ll play one heck of a match against each other. Clijsters made a comeback last year after having a baby and Venus Williams is looking sharper than ever. This one is not to be missed!

3. David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco played a grueling five set match (4 hours and 23 minutes!) and Verdasco came out alive after being down two sets. He faces Nadal in the next round.

4. Today’s quarterfinal action on the men’s side: Montfils vs. Djokovic and Federer vs. Soderling

Catch all the action today on ESPN2 starting at 11am EST.
