911 dispatchers received an incomplete call from the Barnes residence, which prompted them to send police. Dispatchers heard what sounded like a brief scuffle before the line disconnected.
When police arrived at the home they saw Barnes and a woman both with visible injuries. Police decided that Barnes, being an NBA player and all, was the aggressor and took him into custody Wednesday afternoon.
Barnes responded via his Twitter account:
DON’T LET YOUR EARS WITNESS, WHAT YOUR EYES DIDN’T SEE!!!
Since his tweet is in all caps, it’s probably true.
Police seemed to have a different point of view, seeing that they charged Barnes with felony domestic violence as well as maliciously obstructing the use of a telephone line.
I wish I knew about that law when I was in high school, my mom would have been in prison once a week!
Barnes’ previous history doesn’t seem to help him out, being that during a summer league game this year he got in a fight with the coach of an opposing team and allegedly slapped that coach in the face.
He will be in court for arraignment on Monday.
