I mean, sure, it’s a shame that Sarah Shourd and her two friends were arrested by Iranian powers that be for mistakenly, or allegedly, crossing into Iranian territory, but they probably should have known better.
It’s IRAN, they aren’t exactly too pleased with us Americans, you know.
Thankfully, after her family paid a hefty bail amount, Sarah Shourd was released by Iranian officials. Her two companions, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, haven’t been given even a hint at a release date.
Tehran’s chief prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi said later that the bail had been paid to an Iranian bank in Muscat, Oman.
“The judge issued the release order and Ms. Shourd was simply set free and she can leave Iran if she wants to,” he told Press TV. He said the cases of the two American men, both 28, will be sent to the revolutionary court and “there is no talk of releasing those two right now.” Via Huffington Post
Don’t you think Iran’s being a bit of a baby about this? They were hiking, give them a break. I mean, if I was someone from Iran I’d totally be happy that they were checking out the scenery since the rest of the country apparently just wants to shoot each other or keep women covered head to toe all the time.
