Top Chef, the juggernaut reality show so popular that it ousted The Amazing Race from its years long Emmy streak, crowned a winner in tonight’s finale. The heat was on for finalists Angelo Sosa, Ed Cotton and Kevin Sbraga.
But in the end it was Sbraga, 30, of Willingboro, New Jersey, who was crowned the king of “Top Chef: DC.”
Kevin…you are Top Chef,” Padma told the conceivably stunned chef, who only won one quickfire and a single elimination challenge over the course of the season, compared with Angelo and Ed’s pretty consistent excellence.
“I am?!” Kevin exclaimed after a moment’s pause. “Best reaction ever,” said a contented Tom Colicchio. (via Examiner.com)
Kevin won $125,000, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, and a spot at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. His win makes him the first African American chef to win the Bravo reality show. He said before the show that he’s the “Barack Obama of the cooking game” and wants to prove that “he can.”
Well, it looks like he just did.
