The body of 23-year-old Valerie Hamilton was found stuffed in a storage locker this weekend and her father, a North Carolina police chief, is determined to locate her killer.

Merl Hamilton, Valerie’s father, is police chief for Concord, N.C., and is faced with the toughest case yet.

According to NBC News, Valerie Hamilton was last seen with Michael Neal Harvey, 34, a registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal record that includes a rape conviction in 1996. Police, who have issued a warrant for Harvey, said they believe he is driving a white 1996 Chevrolet Blazer with North Carolina license plates.

Merl Hamilton is calling upon his friends and colleagues in the law enforcement community to come to the aid of his family.

“I want to ask my law enforcement brothers and sisters in the country to help me with this,” Hamilton said. “They took my daughter guys. Play it right, play it by the rules. You all get out there and find this guy for me. When it gets back my way, I’ll pay you back.” Via ABC News

Valerie Hamilton, who worked as a swim coach, is being remembered by friends and family as an incredible friend who will be sorely missed.

According to ABC News, Valerie Hamilton’s best friend, Robin Varner, said, “She had this spark to her that everybody wanted to be around because she would light up a room when she walked in. I don’t understand how anybody could do this to her. Somebody who was so sweet and so kind.”
