INJURY UPDATE: Reggie Bush broke his fibula, which means he won’t playing for awhile…
Did giving back the Heisman curse Reggie Bush? Let’s speculate!
Bush, the injured New Orleans “star” running back was carted off the field during the Saints’ 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers and his status for the next few games at the time, was uncertain.
The Saints are 2-0, but only after averaging something like 30 less points a game than they did in their first two games last year. And, even though Bush is a teetering draft bust nominee, his non-presence will undoubtedly be felt.
The injury capped a difficult past few days for Bush, who gave back his Heisman Trophy last Tuesday. The NCAA punished USC after concluding that Bush and his family took money and gifts from sports agents while Bush played for the Trojans. Bush said he returned the award to end the controversy.
There were some highlights for Bush in his first game since giving back the trophy. He caught a 6-yard touchdown pass on New Orleans’ opening drive and set up a field goal with a 43-yard punt return on the final play of the third quarter. Via Yahoo! Sports
So, is it a curse? Eh, probably not. Bush has been injured in the past and the Saints will move on without him.
