Entertainer and pop idol Eddie Fisher passed away Wednesday at age 82 after experiencing complications from hip surgery. Fisher is the father of Star Wars actress and author Carrie Fisher.
Although he was one of the most successful pop singers of the 1950s, much of his career was overshadowed by scandals of his marriages to Elizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds. Throughout his career, Eddie Fisher had a bunch of chart-toppers such as Oh! My Pa-Pa, Thinking of You and Walking Behind You, in addition to TV shows called Coke Time with Eddie Fisher and The Eddie Fisher Show.
Fisher’s family spoke of their loss, “Late last evening the world lost a true America icon. One of the greatest voices of the century passed away. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch.”
