Since April, Andrew Shirvell, an assistant attorney general in the state of Michigan, has been writing a blog about student Chris Armstrong, the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor’s Student Assembly President, and it has really pissed a lot of people off.

From the site’s first blog post, Shirvell writes, “Welcome to ‘Chris Armstrong Watch‘. This is a site for concerned University of Michigan alumni, students, and others who oppose the recent election of Chris Armstrong — a RADICAL HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST, RACIST, ELITIST, & LIAR — as the new head of student government.” Wow, tell us how you really feel!

Andrew Shirvell has brought up a variety of issues on the blog including Chris Armstrong going back on his word regarding campaign promises, the recruitment of incoming freshman “to join the homosexual lifestyle,” and hosting a gay orgy in October 2009. We all have the right to free speech, but that doesn’t mean your boss has to like it. Attorney General Mike Cox says he is pursuing legal action against Shirvell. Cox made a statement: “Mr. Shirvell’s personal opinions are his and his alone and do not reflect the views of the Michigan Department of Attorney General. But his immaturity and lack of judgment outside the office are clear.”

So how is this blog affecting Chris Armstrong? At last night’s Michigan State Assembly meeting, Armstrong responded,

I will not back down. I will not flinch. I will not falter. I will not succumb to any unwarranted attacks. What I will do is I will carry on with the utmost pride and vindication. I, along with the rest of this assembly, were elected to this body to represent the University. And nothing said about us, or regarding our personal merits, will waive our commitment to serve the student body.

Chris Armstrong is working with an attorney to figure this mess out.

  1. This is interesting. Freedom of speech’s grey area – where personal privacy and the right to… well, right blur together.

  2. This really walks the fine line between distasteful-but-legal hate speech and libel. Why even bother displaying your hate in such a public way?

  3. This story is a complete lie. Mike Cox is the person who is behind this. He is a fellow right wing Christian gay bashing zealot. Cox did not put Shrivell up to this, but Shrivell new how Cox felt about gay bashing. Shrivell new Cox would not take action – until – until it made national news.

This is the second blog featuring the cover up lie that Michigan AG Mike Cox is doing his job and taking action. The damage to Michigan’s reputation is already done. Cox has let future employers know that Michigan is being ran by fucking Nazi’s.

It is my belief that Shrivell is a homosexual terrified that his secret will get out. Shrivell and Cox are both typical self hating bigots.

This blog is way off the mark to give Cox cover by announcing after the fact actions by the AG. It is pathetic propaganda out to rescue Cox’s tainted reputation.

  4. shirvell and cox are trying to get it so shirvell can go to court and challenge the hate crime law because it protects gays. their buddies at the michigan family association got tossed out of court and they need a plaintif. cox didn’t read the blog before he defended it.

  5. This is all Armstrong’s fault.

He should stop showing up to places that Andrew frequents. Like Armstrong’s house and gay bars.

Andrew is just looking for a dick to suck. Let him have it.
