In April 2009, 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel went missing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and was last seen with friends leaving a hotel. The case has attracted national media attention, but leads have been few and far between. Last night, Brittanee Drexel was featured on the Investigation Discovery Channel show Disappeared in the hopes that new information about the disappearance will surface. Disappeared focuses on the investigation of missing persons cases but by the end, many are still left unsolved.
The nightmare began during spring break when Brittanee desperately wanted to go with friends to Myrtle Beach. Against her parents’ wishes, she headed down to South Carolina with friends telling her parents she was staying with a friend near their home in Rochester, New York. It was reported that only Brittanee Drexel’s boyfriend, who wasn’t on the trip with her, knew where she really was staying. Then on April 25th, Brittanee allegedly walked back to her hotel from a friend’s but never made it. Shortly after her disappearance, police traced her cell phone signal to a swampy marsh and searched for days but never turned up any clues.
Let’s hope that someone watching Disappeared has information that can help crack this case. Her family has been suffering long enough.
