Kettlebells Are Cool But Trainer Jillian Michaels Is Not

Jillian Michaels is one of the no nonsense personal trainers on The Biggest Loser and considers herself a leader in the field. But many experts are questioning her qualifications and it is about time. Sure, she is in great shape but does she know what she is talking about?

The Jillian Michaels controversy started earlier this year after she was sued for her diet pill, Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Calorie Control. The suit brought against her doubted the effectiveness of the pill and deemed it deceptive. In addition, she was sued for her Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Fat Burner because of the dangerous ingredients along with her Triple Process Total Body Detox and Cleanse.

More recently, the LA Times made some bold statements. After checking out her new kettlebells instructional DVD, you can tell she lacks training. The article states that “Michaels is not actually a real fitness trainer – she’s an actress playing the role of fitness trainer on TV, and in a line of popular DVDs.” The scary part is that people are actually going to buy this DVD, try the moves and injure themselves.

I find it particularly ballsy of her to even release a kettlebells DVD because there are tons of true experts that will laugh in her face. Why prove to the world that you have no idea what proper form is about time and time again? I guess it’s all about the money at this point.

It’s clear she has no clue what she’s talking about because she claims that with the DVD, you can “lose up to 5 pounds a week!” Any fitness professional will tell you that’s not healthy. I’ve always thought she was a fraud (or atleast claimed to know more than she does) and raised an eyebrow after seeing the video below on YouTube where she tries (and fails) to demonstrate kettlebell moves. As an avid fitness enthusiast and kettlebells fan, I couldn’t help but watch in horror. The only thing she’s teaching is how to injure yourself.
