Pop sensation Demi Lovato is the latest celebrity to check in to rehab. She has closed her Twitter account and dropped off the Jonas Brothers tour because of an apparent emotional breakdown. Her rep says the 18-year old has been struggling with “emotional and physical issues” for months.
This Demi Lovato rehab news comes as a shock to fans who were planning to see her on the Camp Rock 2 tour with the Jonas Brothers. Recently on tour, Demi Lovato realized she needed help when she got into a brawl with one of her dancers.
The Demi Lovato rehab news was confirmed by this statement:
Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time. Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that. [Demi] regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future. Demi and her family ask that the media please respect their privacy during this difficult time.
Although her rep has denied allegations of cutting, a source close to the star told People that “she was bullied in school. She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting. Demi is taking control by getting help.”
So do the pressures of being in the spotlight make celebrities more prone to emotional problems or does the magnifying glass just make it seem that way? Either way, let’s hope that Demi Lovato gets the help she needs.
