To me, there is nothing fun about running 26.2 miles. But for 43,000 people yesterday, including one near-famous Chilean miner, in New York City, they did exactly that in the 2010 New York City Marathon. See the impressive NYC Marathon results below.

Among the runners was trapped Chilean miner Edison Pena, 34, who finished in 5 hours and 40 minutes. Pena was known for running up to 7 miles each day in the mining tunnels while singing Elvis Presley songs. Another runner, Tim Sweeney, 33, competed yesterday after a double lung transplant a year ago and knows he has what it takes to cross the finish line:

‘Running a marathon was never on the top of my list, but I feel like I need to do it now,’ he told The Daily News before starting the New York City Marathon Sunday. ‘I feel like I got a second chance – a new lease on life.’
