When is Veterans Day? It’s today, November 11th! In Canada, Veterans Day is known as Remembrance Day and in other parts of the world as Armistice Day. Veterans Day is a federal holiday that is all about honoring those who fought for our country. Take time today to be thankful for all the military veterans who have risked everything. Veterans Day also marks the end of the first World War.
Even if you’re not a veteran or don’t know one, it’s important to respect the sacrifices of so many brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to the greater good. Thank a veteran today!
To help inspire you, here are some Veterans Day quotes.
“It is easy to take liberty for granted when you have never had it taken from you.” Dick Cheney
“I dream of giving birth to a child who will ask, ‘Mother, what was war?’” Eve Merriam
“In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.” Jose Narosky
“This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” Elmer Davis
Here’s one I saw making its way through Facebook that sums up what Veteran’s Day is all about:
A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the USA for an amount up to, & including, their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact. Thank you to all fellow Veterans & true Americans!
Happy Veterans Day!
