Nothing says Christmas quite like the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. If you find yourself in need of a little Christmas cheer tonight, tune in to NBC at 8pm EST to witness the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony live from New York City. Or if you like complete chaos and are in the New York area, head on over to catch all the action live!

So here’s some background on this year’s Christmas tree. It’s a 74-foot Norway spruce from Mahopac, New York that comes from the backyard of Peter Acton, a firefighter who was one of the first responders on 9/11. Using over five miles of wire, the tree will be adorned with 30,000 environmentally friendly LED lights and will be topped with a Swarovski crystal star.

Tonight’s Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony will be hosted by Al Roker and Natalie Morales and will feature performances by Jessica Simpson, Josh Groban, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow and others.

If you’re in New York or are planning to visit, seeing the tree in the flesh is worth the trip. You can catch it illuminated from 5:30am – 11:30pm daily and then all day on Christmas day and 5:30am – 9pm on New Year’s Eve. The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree comes down January 2nd.

So Christmas fanatics, don’t miss the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony. And even for all you Scrooges out there, you have to admit the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree does look pretty cool! And besides, if you tune in tonight, you get to see Mariah Carey pregnant!
