Today marks the 22nd annual World AIDS Day and celebrities are making sure it doesn’t go unnoticed. Alicia Keys, Kim Kardashian, Justin Timberlake, and many others have gone digitally dead until $1 million is raised to support AIDS research. The celebs have vowed to stay off Twitter, Facebook and all other social networking sites until their lives are “bought back”.
By now the AIDS epidemic is on everyone’s radar. This disease, discovered in the 1980s, has taken millions of lives and continues to affect people in countries all around the world. It’s a terrible disease, but thankfully we are making progress.
With the help of Worlds AIDS Day and events like this one, significant headway has been made in AIDS research and prevention. With 33 million people reportedly affected by this virus we still have a lot of work to do. We can start by donating to these celebrities at the Digital Death website and bring these celebrities back to life while helping out the world.
