Google eBooks is Google’s latest way of throwing themselves smack in the middle of the tech industry, while putting themselves right up against both Apple and Amazon’s offerings.

Abraham Murray, product manager of Google Books posted on their official blog:

Launching Google eBooks is an initial step toward giving you greater access to the vast variety of information and entertainment found in books.

One of the cool things about Google eBooks is that the titles can be read on a variety of platforms including Android-based smartphones and even Apple’s iPad (but not on Amazon’s Kindle for now). A main selling point is that Google eBooks uses a cloud-hosting environment that allows customers to buy and store their books with Google, instead of downloading the books and using up valuable storage space on your device or hard drive. This nifty feature makes it possible to read your books any computer or mobile device running on Google’s Android operating system — all you need is your login.
