Former Baywatch star Donna D’Errico is the latest celebrity to slam airport scanners after a recent experience left her feeling singled out. The former Playboy model was flying out of LAX with her boyfriend and son and is sure the TSA subjected her to the scan because she was “attractive.”

Read on for all the details…

Donna D’Errico told AOL News she felt “overexposed” after being subjected to what seems like a routine scan:

It is my personal belief that they pulled me aside because they thought I was attractive… My boyfriend sailed through with no problems, which is rather ironic in that he fits the stereotypical ‘look’ of a terrorist when his beard has grown a bit. After the search, I noticed that the male agent who had pulled me out of line was smiling and whispering with two other agents and glancing at me. I was outraged.

Well, yea lady, they were looking at you and smiling because you’re attractive and you’re a pseudo-celebrity. Haven’t you ever seen anyone famous and felt giddy? Be happy they even recognized you from a stint on a show that ended over ten years ago! Seems like Donna D’Errico may have jumped to conclusions. Besides, as far as I know, the scans are viewed by a team offsite and not the same TSA agents that select you for the scan.

Donna D’Errico went on to say:

This could, and I’m sure does, happen to other women. It isn’t right to hide behind the veil of security and safety in order to take advantage of women, or even men for that matter, so that you can see them naked. It’s a misuse of power and authority, and as much a personal violation as a Peeping Tom. The difference is that Peeping Toms can have charges pressed against them.

Donna D’Errico is not the only celeb taking issue with this. Khloe Kardashian has major issues with the airport body scanners and went on record on Lopez Tonight yesterday saying the pat-downs are like rape:

They basically are just raping you in public. I got asked the other day, do you want to go for a screening or get patted down. I don’t want that X-Ray to see everything, honey! The people are so aggressive! It’s like, ‘Chill out, you didn’t find anything on me yet, calm down,’ They say, ‘OK, I’m going to be patting you down and I’m going to be touching the crease of your ass.’ That is so inappropriate!

So what does the future hold for the airport body scanners? Who knows, but they’re probably not going anywhere any time soon.

  1. If you think for a second that what Donna is saying is not happening, you’re very, very naive. People viewing those pics in what’s supposed to be an off-site private room are often actually just a few feet away from the machine – and have you ever heard of cell phone cameras? While your face may be blurred out, you can still see everything else. EVERYTHING. Not to mention the fact that these “enhanced pat-downs” are not being applied to people who could be actual terrorist threats. I have seen multiple attractive women in airports getting pulled aside to be groped, and if there are no female TSA agents on duty it must be done by a man. Guess what? The terrorists have won.

  2. I don’t think that this means the terrorists have won at all… I truly believe it’s the price we pay for freedom and safety and I’m happy to do it. Besides, we’ve all seen the human body before. If faces are blurred out, what’s the big deal? We can be mature about this, right?

  3. I’d prefer the scan to a pat down, wouldn’t you? That’s where I think there’s room to be taken advantage of.

  4. I think the scanners are a total farce. The lobby money towards these scanners has doubled in the last year and the guy at the head of TSA is a “consultant” for the new scanners — meaning he is going to be a VERY RICH MAN when every airport in the country starts exposing its citizens to humiliation and radiation that can seep into the skin and cause skin cancer. NOT COOL, America. I’d rather walk than be subjected to such a blatant violation of privacy. By the way – you can OPT OUT. Just say I OPT OUT and they cannot force you go thru them.

  5. So if you opt out do you still get on to the plane? What are our options?

  6. What I don’t get is why it matters that former Baywatch star Donna D’Errico. I mean, her opionion matters about as much to me as David Hasselhoff’s does on this subject. Nothing.

  7. If you opt out of the scan you get searched (IE: felt up). If you refuse both and choose not to fly they can choose to not let you leave at all and keep you at the airport for hours questioning you like a criminal. I’d suggest only flying out of airports that dont do the scanners – smaller ones with private security, most likely. (Orlando is doing it, that I know)
