Rumors have been swirling that Aaron Carter is dead. Singer Aaron Carter is the latest celeb to fall victim to an online death hoax AND IT IS NOT TRUE.

For the record, death hoaxes are not cool.

Details about the Aaron Carter “dead” rumors after the JUMP!

Not sure why people invent such asinine things to do on the internet. Bored much? Anyway, rumors about Aaron Carter’s death started circulating on Twitter Thursday and continued over the weekend. Instead of looking up the facts about Aaron Carter and ending the madness, many Twitter users decided to keep tweeting the Aaron Carter death hoax rumors making the situation worse.

The rumors said Aaron Carter died of a drug overdose which might seem plausible given 1) Aaron’s brother Nick Carter had a drug problem and 2) Aaron Carter hasn’t been in the spotlight for awhile. The rumorsĀ  of Aaron Carter’s death are false.

Aaron Carter, the 23-year-old sensation, who is the little brother of Nick Carter (of Backstreet Boys fame), went on Twitter in an effort to dispel any rumors. On Christmas Eve, he tweeted:

This is the real Aaron Carter I know there’s a Hoax Going Around, But I’m Here, Alive & Well. At the compound Working on my mind & soul.

So there.

Guess there’s no such thing as bad publicity, but still, creepy celebrity death rumors have got to be on the bottom of the publicity totem pole.
