Being a Gossip Girl certainly has its perks.

Not only does Blake Lively get to lie, cheat, steal boyfriends on TV — and look amazing doing it — now the fashion forward fashionista has signed on to be the face of Chanel’s new Mademoiselle handbag line.

(FYI: Blake Lively already has a Christian Louboutin shoe named after her, so she’s used to filling big shoes.)

She’s a kind of American dream girl,” says designer Karl Lagerfeld of the French design house’s newest face.  The blonde beauty, who spent much of her time in Paris last July mingling with fashion royalty during the couture shows, was photographed by the designer himself at Chanel’s Rue Cambon headquarters for the new campaign (People.com).

For the young ingénue, being photographed in the historic apartment where the late great Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel once showed her gorgeous  collections was pretty amazing to her. Lively says:

A dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around.

The ads are slated to run in magazines around the world come April. She joins an exclusive club of movie and music stars who have posed for the house of Chanel — including blonde beauty Diane Kruger, British pop star Lily Allen and Johnny Depp’s paramour, Vanessa Paradis.

Said Lively:

Though I am the face of [the handbag], I will carry it like every girl. I will always feel it’s more than just a purse. It’s a quilted case full of lipstick, love letters and the dreams and possibilities that I have always felt every time I see that beautiful ‘CC.’

Congrats to Blake Lively for becoming the face of Chanel’s new Mademoiselle handbag line 2010!
