So how much is it and when can you get your hands on one? For starters, if you’re already a Verizon Wireless customer, you can preorder a Verizon iPhone February 3rd. For everyone else, you have to wait until the official release on February 10th.
CNet has answered some of the other popular questions answered at the Verizon press conference:
How much will the Verizon iPhone cost?
Verizon is offering the iPhone 4 for the same price as Apple, AT&T, and others: $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB. Both are with a two-year contract. There’s not too much info on the pricing plans yet. Verizon COO Lowell McAdam said he wasn’t ready to give details.
How is Verizon’s iPhone 4 different from AT&T’s version?
In terms of hardware, Verizon will have almost the exact same device. The major difference is the CDMA chips inside the Verizon iPhone that will allow it to run on Verizon’s network. On the outside, the most eagle-eyed observers will notice that the Verizon iPhone 4′s ringer/mute switch on the top left side has been moved slightly downward. Apple says it was done to accommodate the CDMA chips on the inside, and consequently iPhone 4 cases and bumpers currently on the market will not fit Verizon’s iPhone.
Something cool that Verizon iPhones have and AT&T’s do not:
You have the ability to use the iPhone as a Wi-Fi hot spot. Up to five Wi-Fi devices can run off the iPhone’s internet connection at one time. Neat!
Did this Verizon announcement make your day a little bit better or are you happy with your current phone? I’m sticking with my Droid.
