Come February, you’ll have no excuse not to be awake in the A.M.
You had the Grande, then the Venti, but now the Seattle-based coffee conglomerate Starbucks just announced that they will be unveiling their largest cup size yet – the 31-ounce “Trenta.”
Named after the Italian word for the number “30″, the mondo sized “Trenta” has 7 more ounces than the ever popular Venti and costs 50 cents more per cup. This big gulp size brew will be available only for iced coffee, iced tea and lemonade drinks.
According to local Seattle news station KTLA:
The “Trenta” will be unveiled in 14 states including Hawaii and Texas on Jan. 18 and will debut in California Feb. 1. The drink is expected to be nationwide by May 3.
It might seen like an oxymoron to order a Skinny Trenta, but Starbucks says that unsweetened drinks in this new size could have fewer than 90 calories (as in: Black Iced Coffee, no sugar or cream) and sweetened java’s could have less than 230 calories. (No doubt, though, if you feel like sucking down a Trenta Frap, you’ll be packing on the pounds.)
Why the world needs a coffee drink this big is beyond me. But then again, did the world ever need the Big Gulp or Super sized drinks, wither? No. But Thirsty people will still suck ‘em down.
Starbucks has yet to announce if or when international locations will be receiving the larger size. We kind of doubt that. The rest of world already thinks Americans are gluttonous pigs. This new Trenta does not help our case.
