The 64-year-old singer, who looks cooler in shorts and flip flops than the rest of us, was playing a sold out show at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and was in the middle of Lovely Cruise when disaster struck. One fan said the lights got really bright and flashed for about ten seconds before Jimmy Buffett fell. After falling off the stage and striking his head, Jimmy Buffet laid unconscious and bleeding for quite awhile and was not taken to nearby St. Vincent’s Hospital for nearly half an hour.
Concert-goers have told conflicting stories of the event ranging from miscalculations on a planned jump off the stage to a clumsy slip and fall. Gossip site TMZ has a video of the Jimmy Buffett fall here. Judging from the video, it looks like he kind of slipped off the stage. Without seeing what came before it, though, it’s hard to tell if he was disoriented due to light flashes or what exactly.
Although the extent of Jimmy Buffet’s injuries aren’t known, Radaronline reports:
‘Mr. Buffett was brought to us at around 11.30pm on Wednesday evening,’ said hospital spokesperson Denise Coughlan. ‘His latest condition update is stable, although he is still under observation.’
