Fans of the NBC hit show The Office have been waiting with baited breath to find out just who is going to replace the dopey yet lovable clown of a boss, Michael Scott (aka Steve Carrell).

Everyone who watches the wildly successful show knows that those are some pretty big shoes to fill. Is Will Ferrell big enough?

Keep reading for details!

Today, news broke that none other Will Ferrell will be coming to The Office. Ferrell was hired to play a branch manager from Dunder Mifflin’s home office. Does this mean Ferrell is the new Carrell?

According to Famecrawler:

Currently, Will Ferrell has signed on to do four episodes of The Office. The show’s producer, Paul Lieberstein said, “We are proud to continue The Office’s tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.

Very funny. But the truth is that Carell is quitting The Office four episodes prior to the end of the season. He and buddy Ferrell will star together in three episodes, leaving Ferrell the last episode all to himself before the season ends.

Hmm. Is this some sort of test run to see if fans respond to Will Ferrell and actually buy him as Dunder Mifflin material? Or is it just a sneaky ploy to help drive up sagging ratings.

Who do you want to see take over Micheal Scott’s post on The Office?
