Season 10 of American Idol is in full swing complete with tears, screams of joy and a hospitalization. The top 24 were announced this week and Seth Rogen lookalike Casey Abrams crooned and dazzled us all through Hollywood week. In an unfortunate turn of events, the Colorado native has fallen ill. He has been in the hospital since Wednesday and his future with the hit show is uncertain.

Casey Abrams, 19, was admitted to the hospital Wednesday complaining of stomach pains and has received a blood transfusion. The taping of the top 12 guys is tonight and only time will tell if Casey Abrams will be well enough to perform.

TMZ reports that sources over at American Idol are leaving it up to Casey to decide and that producers will let him rehearse at 4:30pm PST today if he’s well enough. For now, though, nothing is certain although producers are looking into letting him tape the show and then head back to the hospital. If Casey is unable to sing tonight night, he’ll most likely be eliminated leaving the door wide open for the other contestants.

What does fate have in store for Casey Abrams? Only time will tell, but let’s hope a speedy recovery is in order. Every one of the top 24 contestants deserves to be there, but Casey Abrams truly shines. I hope he’ll have the chance.
