According to Punchline Magazine, “Last Comic Standing” Comedian Mike DeStefano passed away following a heart attack on Sunday. A favorite of fans and comedians in the New York comedy scene for years, DeStefano’s brutally honest comedy took America by storm when he placed fourth on Season 7 of “Last Comic Standing.”

Mike DeStefano was a Bronx native and was an HIV-positive recovering heroin addict who frequently tackled those tough topics in his act. He had been HIV positive since the 80s and also lost his wife to AIDS.
According to the bio on his website, DeStefano began his stand-up career at 31 while working as a drug counselor in Florida.
He offered to entertain the audience at a convention, and following their positive response, he decided to start his career in stand-up.
