Sunday was a good day for actress Amy Adams because she found out that she nabbed the role of Lois Lane in the new Superman film alongside British actor Henry Cavill.

The big entertainment news of the weekend is that Amy Adams, 36, will join Henry Cavill as Superman, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane as Martha Kent in the Superman revival. She’s a fantastic actress and I think she’ll do the role proud. And so does the director!

Director Zack Snyder searched far and wide before casting Amy Adams. He spoke with Hero Complex:

There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.

Snyder also spoke about his decision to cast 27-year-old Henry Cavill as Superman:

“…I think Henry just has this innocence too [in addition to the look and physicality required for the role], he has both, which is tricky. Superman needs the teeniest bit of that. Not to be overt, but you like it to be there ever so slightly. I mean, he grew up in Kansas, that’s just true, so you need a little of that [innocence].”

Shooting begins in Vancouver this summer. Will Superman be on your list of movies to see?
