New Yorkers have been up in arms for the past week ever since catching wind of the escaped cobra fiasco at the Bronx Zoo. Make no mistake, the missing Egyptian cobra was not your average pet snake–crafty, deadly and…….on Twitter?!?!

Read more about the Bronx Zoo cobra!

The Bronx Zoo cobra went missing six long days ago and made global news. Where was the snake found? In the Reptile House, of course! It looks like the missing reptilian didn’t get too far after all.

Jim Breheny, the Bronx Zoo’s director, spoke with the Daily News:

We found our snake and we’re very happy. We knew it was going to be a game of patience. We set the place up to make it easier to search. We wanted to just let her feel comfortable…We did everything we could to help her feel secure.

And what about the security of the zoo’s visitors? Ah, who cares.

Anyway, the zoo said the cobra was discovered in a corner around 9am this morning when zoo workers were making their daily rounds. The snake was carefully captured and is now under observation. How did the Egyptian cobra escape in the first place? The zoo says the snake got out of a fiberglass box with a sliding glass door while it was left alone. Realllll secure there.

While missing, the cobra used his new found fame to get an account on Twitter. BronxZoosCobra tweeted cool things like this:

A lot of people are asking how I can tweet with no access to a computer or fingers. Ever heard of an iPhone? Duh.

and this:

Dear @CharlieSheen, know what’s better than tiger’s blood? Cobra venom. #winning #snakeonthetown Also I’m 20 inches long. Just sayin’.

and this:

Got a bagel at H & H Bagels on upper west side. When I ordered I said, “I’ll have the snakes on a PLAIN.” He did not laugh. Tough crowd.

Genius, Bronx Zoo….really.

Lucky for the Bronx Zoo. The snake could have found a nice little toddler to take a bite out of while he was out exploring. Glad he didn’t and there’s a happy ending to this one. Rest easy, New Yorkers!
