Video of an apparent hate crime at a McDonald’s in Maryland has the internet abuzz and rightfully so. An employee (now fired) caught the attack of transgender woman Chrissy Lee Polis on video which began after she attempted to use the restroom.

The incident occurred on April 18th at a Baltimore-area McDonald’s and since then, the video has gone viral. It shows two teens attacking Chrissy Lee Polis, 22, after she reportedly tried to use the ladies restroom. The video is brutal and you can’t help but watch it in horror. What’s even more shocking is the fact that a McDonald’s employee filmed the attack yet didn’t try to stop it. At one point, you can even hear laughs. Finally, a woman in the restaurant came to Polis’ aid.
She explained the attack to The Baltimore Sun:
I went to go use the bathroom. Come back out, the girl spit in my face, said, ‘Are you trying to talk to my man?’ I said, ‘No, I didn’t even know that was your man at all.’ The other girl came up, spit in my face, then they started ripping my hair, throwing me on the floor.
Wait, so was this a transgender issue or an issue of one woman talking to another woman’s man? It’s not clear. Anyway, both of the attackers in the video were apprehended but only one was identified–18-year-old Teonna Monae Brown. The other was only 14 years old.
