Demi Lovato, 18, went to rehab last October and is now speaking out about what she went through and how her latest single was like therapy for her.
We all remember the headlines, right? Anorexia, bulimia, cutting…Demi knew she needed help and was brave enough to get it (via E!News):
“I wasn’t going to continue to be alive if I continued to treat my body the way I was. It’s a daily journey and it’s definitely going to be a struggle that I’ll have to deal with for the rest of my life. Sometimes I think, ‘Why couldn’t I have been normal?’ ”
Normal people don’t have chart topping hits, Demi! While rehab was no walk in the park, she did emerge stronger:
It got to the point where I was lying to everyone, lying about eating and being happy…I became a little brat and I had so much growing up to do, and I never intentionally meant to be that way, but I just had so much going on in my head.
She also told Ryan about her new single Skyscraper. What’s it about? Demi Lovato says that “Skyscraper is about rising above those issues. That it’s going to be OK. No matter how hard your rock bottom is, you can rise above it and you can come back.” Right on, girl!
And apparently tons of you out there identified with Demo Lovato‘s struggles–the song is currently in the coveted #1 spot on the iTunes Top 10 chart!
