Happy Birthday! Michael Jackson would have turned 53 today if he were still alive. In his lifetime, the King of Pop entertained us with his smooth dance moves, catchy beats and unique voice, and now we’re paying tribute to the star who left us too soon.
Michael Jackson will be sorely missed but his memory lives on. Michael Jackson’s hometown of Gary, Indiana held a special event to celebrate his 53rd birthday called The Legend’s Weekend. Their site reads, “As a tribute to its many hometown legends, the City of Gary, LGR Partners, Inc., the Jackson Family Foundation, and the Jackson Development and Marketing Corporation presents, The Legend’s Weekend, an annual music festival tribute in honor of Michael Joseph Jackson.”
The festivities ranged from food, entertainment and even a circus in the event that began last Friday. At 5pm today, a special cake will be cut outside Michael Jackson’s boyhood home on 2300 Jackson Street. It’s from Sugarbuds Bakery in Canada and is four feet tall!
Keith Jackson, Michael’s first cousin was there and said, “I’m basically feeling really good about being able to celebrate Michael’s birthday. I’m proud of all the accomplishments that Michael and his brothers made in their career.”
Keep Michael Jackson‘s memory alive today!
