Rapper T.I. who was sentenced to 11 months in an Arkansas prison for a probation violation was released a month early today. And what do ex-con rappers do after their release? They get a reality series, of course! A new VH1 reality series starring T.I. is coming to a TV near you this December!
Clifford Harris, or T.I. as we know him, no longer calls the Forrest City low-security prison his home. He’s off to a Georgia halfway house to finish up the rest of his sentence and according to T.I.’s tweet, it was a good day:
The storm is over & da sun back out. IT’S OUR TIME TO SHINE SHAWTY!!!!! Welcome to the beginning of our Happy Ending!!!!
Why was T.I. on probation in the first place? It started out with him spending seven months in jail in 2009 after he was caught in a sting operation trying to buy unregistered weapons. After that, he was on probation and would land himself back in jail if he committed a crime or got caught with drugs. Sure enough, he was arrested in September 2010 on drug charges after four ecstasy pills were found on him and back to prison he went.
T.I.’s fame has been working out well for him, though. He’s just hours out of prison and already has something up his sleeve. His upcoming reality show on VH1 will chronicle his journey home from prison which is similar to a 2009 MTV show called T.I.’s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go–where he helped others stay on the straight and narrow.
And that’s not all! The Atlanta-based rapper also has a book deal with HarperCollins that will debut in October. It’s a fictional novel co-written with David Ritz called Power & Beauty that shows how a friendship is affected by life on the street in Atlanta.
Will T.I. stay out of prison now for good? We hope so!
