Who Is Nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards?

Award season is officially here! The Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood, revealing the best of the best according to actors’ peers. Which films were nominated and which television shows got snubbed?

No movie stood out in particular across all five motion picture categories. Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture are The Artist, Bridesmaids, The Descendants, The Help and Midnight in Paris. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Leonardo Dicaprio, Demian Bichir and Jean Dujardin are up for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role; Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Meryl Streep, Tilda Swinton and Michelle Williams are competing for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

In the television categories, Jessica Lange of FX’s American Horror Story grabbed a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Game of Thrones and The Good Wife are nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series; 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Modern Family and The Office are all up for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

In addition, the Screen Actors Guild Awards’ Annual Life Achievement Award will honor Mary Tyler Moore.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. An encore performance will air immediately following on TNT.
