The singer, actress and girlfriend of Justin Bieber had a busy weekend planned; she was set to perform at two holiday concerts in the Chicago and Seattle areas. Yet while attending one in Los Angeles on Friday night, Selena Gomez left early and immediately sent word of her weekend concert cancellations.

Unfortunately, Gomez did so and noted a “family emergency” because her mother suffered a miscarriage.

Selena Gomez was scheduled to perform a holiday set at both the B96 Jingle Bash 2011 at the Allstate Arena outside of Chicago on Saturday night, and at 106.1 KISS FM’s Jingle Bell Bash at the WaMu Theater in Seattle on Sunday night. While enjoying Power 106′s Cali Christmas 2011 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City from a spectator’s perspective, she was notified that her mother suffered a miscarriage. Gomez immediately left the concert and went home to be with her family.

Divorced when Selena Gomez was five years old, her mother was remarried in 2006. Last month, Gomez tweeted the pregnancy announcement to all her fans. “Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news…My mommy’s carrying my baby brother or sister :) I’m the happiest girl in the world!”

The baby would have been their first child together, and Selena would have finally become a big sister.

Friend and fellow Disney Channel star Demi Lovato tweeted Gomez for support, and #PrayforSelena trended on Twitter throughout the weekend as fans expressed their condolences. Our thoughts are with Selena Gomez and her family during this time.
