The first season of the powerhouse hit making show, X-Factor, came to a rousing close Thursday night, as teen age wunderkind Melanie Amaro walked away the winner – and $5 million dollars richer!

When host Steve Jones revealed the winner, Amaro screamed: “Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh My God!”
It’s been a long road for the 19-year Caribbean born singer – who was actually booted from the competition earlier in the season, only to be asked back for a second audition by Simon Cowell himself.
Said the notoriously grumpy judge:
We came here to find a superstar, we found a superstar. Thank you to everyone who supported the show… “I want to say, America, thank you for giving this girl an opportunity.
