Besides acting, Angelina Jolie excels through her activism as well. However, she has mentioned that she will let her kids make the decision on their own to stand up for what they believe in…without any kind of lecture from their mother.
Read on to see how Jolie approaches parenting, and how she exposes her children to the world outside of Hollywood!
“I’m not one of those moms who kind of lectures [my kids],” Jolie said on Saturday at the 23rd Annual Palm Springs Film Festival. “But I do tell them, whenever I go on a trip, where I’m going and why. And on some occasions, they’ve come with me to different refugee camps. And they also go to their home countries a lot.”
She hopes to continue raising her children in the world beyond the Hollywood spotlight.
Hopefully they live in the world, and they see the world really as it is, outside of Hollywood. If they really live in the world and spend time with friends around the world from all different types of backgrounds, they [will] just see things as they are.
Though Jolie doesn’t lecture her children, she does incorporate each child’s background into their lives as much as possible. For example, her daughter Zahara turned 7 this past Sunday.
“We make sure we’re very aware of her culture and her heritage,” she continued. “She’s an African-American girl, so we make that a part of anything she does. So that’ll be a part of her [birthday].”
