After being fired from Two And A Half Men, Charlie Sheen has been hard at work developing his new comedy series Anger Management for FX, based on the movie that originally starred Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. Who has been cast as Sheen’s onscreen ex-wife, and who will bear his burdens as his therapist on the show? Read on for reveal, after the jump!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shawnee Smith has been cast as Sheen’s ex-wife, and Selma Blair as his therapist. The trio will begin shooting in March, and the show is set to debut in June on FX.
Sheen boldly commented on the show’s promise last month:
At this stage of the game, to deliver a turd? It’s not going to happen. It’s going to be an absolute f—in’ rocket ship to the moon.
Shawnee Smith will play the role of Charlie’s ex-wife Jennifer, a role billed as a sexy woman who doesn’t exactly have it together. Married young, she never found an identity outside of Charlie. They divorced after he spent years cheating on her, but they remain close and are raising their teen daughter together.
Selma Blair will play the role of Charlie’s therapist, Kate, a character described as beautiful, if a bit neurotic. As his former team psychologist, she helped Sheen’s Charlie control his anger. Now, she is both his friend and his therapist…with benefits.
