You might only be celebrating the fact that The Hunger Games is finally coming out today, but here’s another reason to get excited today: it’s the 6th annual National Puppy Day!
This adorable event was started as a way to raise awareness for sweet little orphaned puppies and the dangers of puppy mills. Keep reading to find out how you can celebrate National Puppy Day… after the jump!
Here’s what you need to know about this woof-tastic day:
Started in 2006, the National Puppy Day website says the holiday not only celebrates the magic of puppies, but “more importantly, it’s a day to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills, as well as further our mission for a nation of puppy-free pet stores.”
If you’ve thought long and hard about wanting to adopt a puppy – check out National Puppy Day’s official website for more information. Or, you can just visit the site to see which puppy got voted the cutest puppy! (Hint: her name is Bella!)
Not ready to adopt, try fostering a puppy.
Anything helps! Remember, they are our best friends!
