Kathie Lee Gifford makes a major gaff

Kathie Lee Gifford made a major gaff during her live show Wednesday while interviewing Martin Short. She started asking the funnyman questions about his marriage… not realizing that his wife Nancy Dolman died two years earlier.

Short was was promoting his upcoming movie “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” when Gifford started grilling him about his marriage. She said: “He and Nancy have one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business. How many years now for you guys?”

Short was a class act and didn’t mortify the morning host live on air, and instead replied: “We … for 36 years.”

Then she asked: “But you’re still, like, in love?”

Short forced a small smile and responded, “Madly, madly in love.” (via SF Gate)

Only after the interview did Gifford realize what she did, and quickly went to Twitter to apologize.
