It’s not every day that giant prehistoric creatures are discovered in far off lands! Scientists have found the skeleton of a 2 million year old wombat in Queensland, Australia. If the plant eater were still alive, it would be the size of a four-wheel drive vehicle and weigh three tons! Yikes!

Between rocky landings and turbulence, air travel can be scary enough, but with engine failure thrown into the mix, flying can be a complete nightmare. And a nightmare it was for passengers on a Qantas flight en route to Sydney, Australia Thursday when A380 engine failure forced them to make an emergency landing.
HICKORY, NC: There has been a break in the Zahra Baker case. Was Zahra Baker found? No not yet, but police are getting close because the 10-year-old missing Australian girl’s prosthetic leg has been found. Investigators found the prosthetic leg late Tuesday afternoon and are trying to determine for sure if it’s Zahra Baker’s by looking up the serial number. Because it was made in Australia, this process could take some time, says The Gaston Gazette.
Zahra Baker was reported missing by her parents on October 9th and an Amber Alert was immediately issued while a search for Zahra got underway. That was quickly called off October 12th when the investigation turned into a homicide investigation. Now authorities believe she is dead.
Zahra’s parents seem like a match made in heaven. Stepmother Elisa Baker is up to no good and has been jailed for apparently trying to pass off a ransom note as Zahra’s. Her father, Adam Baker, is also behind bars facing a few charges including writing bogus checks.
Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova and Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic are engaged, says Vujacic and Sharapova’s agent. The news was reported by TMZ yesterday and they say that Sasha Vujacic proposed last Tuesday in his Manhattan Beach, California home. P.S. as one would expect, Maria’s diamond ring is HUGE!
Sasha Vujacic, 26, and Maria Sharapova, 23, met a year ago at a friend’s barbecue and got engaged on their one year anniversary. Vujacic confirmed the engagement Thursday:
We are engaged and are both really happy. It’s good and now we can focus on other things…It was probably old school. I had to do it like a gentlemen.
Carrie Fisher, the actress who portrayed Princess Leia in the Star Wars films, admitted to trouble with cocaine and even did some on the Ice Planet, according to an interview with The Escapist.
Fisher said that she and some other actors, who weren’t named, partook in the party favor while shooting the film.
“We did cocaine on the set of Empire, in the ice planet,” Fisher told Australian newswire AAP. “I didn’t even like coke that much, it was just a case of getting on whatever train I needed to take to get high.”
Doing ice on the Ice Planet, nice touch. Well, I guess it would be easy to conceal your drug use while you were surround by tons of snow. When in Rome, I guess. Read More
This is why I cannot watch sporting events, Broadway shows, and live TV — there is always that slim chance that something majorly BAD will happen. And last night, it happened — big time. Sarah Murdoch, of the Rupert Murdoch clan (she’s his daughter-in-law) and host of Australia’s Next Top Model, accidentally crowned the wrong winner.
It took about two minutes to realize the error — two minutes where the faux winner’s lifelong dream of being a top model was finally realized, her monetary woes put to rest, fame finally hers, family there live to witness it all — before Murdoch had to break the news and pretty much go “Oops, my bad.”
It's official! Portia De Rossi has legally taken wife Ellen DeGeneres' last name and is now Portia DeGeneres. During a closed hearing on Thursday, Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner made De Rossi proud by granting her petition to become a DeGeneres. The 37-year-old star will now legally be known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres and the couple couldn't be happier. In a statement Portia said, "I am thrilled to legally adopt my wife's name. I will continue to use Portia de Rossi for professional purposes." When asked about starting a family, Ellen, 52, commented, "I don't think we are going to have kids. We have animals, and we love them. And, you know, we are brand new aunts. Her brother and his wife just had a baby girl who's a month old now, and it's fun to be a part of that." This marks the second name change for the new Mrs.Read More
Rafael Nadal has never been more proud! Last night he managed to defeat Novak Djokovic and secure his 9th Grand Slam title in the men’s final of the 2010 U.S. Open. In four sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2), Nadal fought his way to the end and took home his very own chunk of tennis history. At only 24-years old, Nadal became the third-youngest man in the Open era of tennis to have won a career Grand Slam–at least one Australian Open, Wimbledon, French Open and U.S. Open title. Also, last night’s win makes him one of only seven men to have earned this honor.

Well, "sexy" is a subjective term here. Lisa De Vanna, a member of the Australian Womens Soccer Team who currently plays professional soccer (really?) posted some... um... dicey photos of herself on Facebook, where she apparently thought no one would see them. I mean, who uses Facebook? Anyway, some 13-year-old saw the pictures and that kid's mom got involved, so you know this isn't going to end nicely.
“I wouldn’t want my daughter to follow the Matildas and Lisa,” the distraught mother complained, according to the Herald Sun.”These girls aren’t role models – they are an embarrassment to themselves and their sport.” Via BabbleRead More
