Gloria C. MacKenzie is a Tallahassee, Florida, resident, 84 years old, and now the sole winner of the second-largest lottery jackpot in the history of the game. MacKenzie claimed the $590 million jackpot on Wednesday and opted for the cash payout of $370 million. The AP reports the 84-year-old Florida woman actually let another customer go ahead of her at her local Publix supermarket where she purchased four Powerball tickets, one of which was the only ticket to produce the jackpot numbers. While the $590 million Powerball numbers were read on May 18, 2013, MacKenzie took two weeks to get her affairs in order before she claimed the prize. Winners have up to 60 days to identify themselves and provide proof of their lottery win. The AP says MacKenzie had lawyers and a financial advisor review the Powerball lottery paperwork.
