Charlie Sheen says he’s sane now. Seriously. At Sunday night’s Fox Network Television Critics Association party, he told reporters, ”I’m not crazy any more. That was an episode.” Is he being sincere, or is he just trying to mend his image as much as possible as he starts working on a brand new show for FX?

Remember Legally Blonde: The Musical casting show on MTV? Or how about The Glee Project on Oxygen? Both of these were such huge hits that Tony Award winner Andrew Lloyd Webber is currently in talks for a new reality television show that will scout talent for one of his esteemed musical productions. He has so many great stage spectacles to choose from (Evita, Cats, The Phantom Of The Opera, Sunset Boulevard and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to only name a few), so which script and score will be the final prize of the upcoming televised talent contest?
When Regis Philbin announced that he was set to retire from morning television, audiences and producers had no idea who would replace him as the permanent co-host of the show that would no longer be known as Live! With Regis And Kelly. And since Philbin’s final episode, ratings have dipped dramatically as the seat next to Ripa has become a revolving door for guest hosts Jerry Seinfeld, Josh Groban and her husband, Mark Consuelos — just as it was when Kathie Lee Gifford first departed the show and Ripa tried out her soap opera acting chops on live morning television.
However, after taking a second and more fair look, the ratings of Live! With Kelly look quite good…in fact, they’re better than when Philbin was sitting beside her! More details after the jump.
What did Chelsea Handler want for Christmas? Pop a few a bottles of Belvedere and celebrate, because the comedienne has just renewed her contract with E! Entertainment, keeping her show Chelsea Lately on the air through 2014!
But that’s not all that Handler is taking on in the future; in addition to also renewing her other show on the cable channel, the mock documentary series After Lately, she’s also taking on some bigger roles that are reaching beyond her late night hours and into the rest of the television world.
With so many ways to watch television these days, it’s impossible to accurately capture which shows are successfully received by audiences through ratings alone: what about the people who record shows on their DVRs to watch them later on? Or those who stream episodes online, either directly from the network’s website or through a portal like Hulu? Apple TV, Google TV, purchasing episodes on iTunes…just because the episode was made for television definitely doesn’t mean it needs to be watched on an actual television anymore!
And even after compiling the results from all the aforementioned avenues, the numbers still won’t be accurate because one widely available option to watch television will still be omitted. Who out there is keeping count of the top ten most pirated shows on TV?
The singer, actress and girlfriend of Justin Bieber had a busy weekend planned; she was set to perform at two holiday concerts in the Chicago and Seattle areas. Yet while attending one in Los Angeles on Friday night, Selena Gomez left early and immediately sent word of her weekend concert cancellations.
Unfortunately, Gomez did so and noted a “family emergency” because her mother suffered a miscarriage.
Award season is officially here! The Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood, revealing the best of the best according to actors’ peers. Which films were nominated and which television shows got snubbed?
Audiences were in shock when Cougar Town wasn’t anywhere to be found in ABC’s midseason lineup. First, there were speculations that that after just two seasons of impromptu wine “tastings” and overbearing parenting, the single-camera comedy Cougar Town was suddenly cancelled, and Courtney Cox would be off the air yet again. Then, the network calmed fans down with promises that the show would return in sometime March — three long months from now.
But E! Online ran into Busy Philipps at the Alice + Olivia charity fashion show in West Hollywood last night, and she had some great news to share…along with a handful of spoilers about the Cul-de-Sac crew!
Social networks connect people. Facebook allows people to peer into the lives of high school classmates and long lost acquaintances, Twitter endorses multiple TwitPic uploads of colorful lunches and picturesque scenery (complete with an Instagram filter, of course). But where can people share artistic inspirations and expressions freely, now that Tumblr is overridden with branded blogs and viral memes?
Enter Dianna Agron, better known as the saucy and spiteful cheerleader Quinn Fabray on Glee. She has just launched YouMeandCharlie.com, which is her idea of a virtual art collective and inspired by her own personal, and supernatural, experiences.
